Construction crews had to rush to Park Ave. in the borough of Plateau–Mont-Royal Thursday afternoon after part of the street caved in.
Officials said the sinkhole was caused by a water main break.
Crews had to dig around the collapsed section of the street and are now repairing the hole, which measures about two metres by half a metre.
One lane in each direction of Park Ave., between Fairmount Ave. and St-Viateur St., was closed so that crews could carry out the repairs.
Traffic in the area was heavy during Thursday afternoon rush hour due to the lane closures which are expected to remain in effect until about 10 p.m.
