Police are warning people in Cranbrook, B.C. to avoid an area east of the city Wednesday morning as conservation officers search for a mother grizzly bear that attacked a bow hunter last night.
The man survived and was airlifted to hospital in Calgary with non-life threatening injuries.
The hunter is believed to have shot an arrow into the grizzly before it retreated.
Conservation officers believe the sow, who had two cubs in tow, was wounded by the arrow. Four officers are working to find her and gather more information on what happened.
The attack happened near City Fields, on Highway 3 near the turnoff to Highway 95a.
