Saskatchewan Crown insurer streamlines auto claims involving body damage

REGINA — Saskatchewan's Crown insurance company is introducing a program that allows drivers to get vehicle damage estimates at accredited auto body shops.

Saskatchewan Government Insurance says the move will streamline smaller damage claims.

Don McMorris, minister responsible for the insurer, says it will reduce wait times as well.

Vehicles will no longer have to be taken to SGI appraisers before being sent for repairs.

Twenty auto body shops are already doing damage estimates and many more are to be accredited by the end of the year.

SGI appraisal centres will still be used as well.
