Woman stabbed in unprovoked Moss Park attack

Toronto police are closing off the Moss Park area after a woman was stabbed at random.

A woman in her 50s was stabbed by an unknown man around Queen Street East and Sherbourne Street area around 12:45 p.m. Police say the stabbing was unprovoked.

The woman was conscious and breathing when police arrived and paramedics quickly transported her to a nearby hospital.

It's unclear how many times the woman was stabbed.

Police said the male suspect is in his mid-40s, standing about 6' tall and 200 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt and black pants and appeared to put the knife back in his pocket, police said.

The man was last seen fleeing the scene north on George Street
