Bindi Irwin Makes Beautiful Tribute To Her Dad Marking Nine Years Since His Death

It's hard to believe it has been nine years since Steve Irwin's untimely death. On Sunday, his 17-year-old daughter, Bindi, took a moment on Instagram to remind us all of his legacy.

"Thinking about home today," Bindi wrote. "Father's Day is today in Australia and everyone is celebrating at Australia Zoo. It's such a special time of year, I hope everyone who comes to the zoo today is able to enjoy it with our gorgeous animals. No matter where I am in the world, this day means such a lot to me. My heart forever lives @AustraliaZoo - just like Dad's always did."

Irwin died on September 4, 2006, when a stingray stung him in the chest. Since then, his wife, Terri, and two children, Bindi and Robert, have continued Steve's work promoting conservation and a love of nature.

Bindi has also recently traded in her khaki uniform for sequins as a contestant for Dancing With The Stars, which premieres on September 14.

"I am absolutely thrilled. I can't tell you how excited I am," Irwin told People about being on the show. "I think that it is going to be a truly unbelievable new experience. I can’t wait to see what is to come."
