Over the Labour Day weekend, the Ontario city of Pembroke held its annual Old Time Fiddling and Step Dancing Championship.

The contest, which celebrated its 40th (!) year, featured many categories for different age groups. There's 19-49 step dancing, for example, and 45-64 fiddling.

With the number of categories came plenty of runner-ups and winners, and Cheryl Gallant, the Conservative incumbent for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, took to Twitter to congratulate those who emerged triumphant.

Here's a nice tweet from Gallant that was posted on Wednesday:

Gallant also congratulated Dennis Alexander, whose fiddling skills came only second to Wilson's.

Gallant started tweeting all the salutes at 7:40 pm ET on Wednesday and was still going strong at midnight a day later.
