Early morning commute in Calgary neighbourhood shattered by tragedy

CALGARY — A pedestrian is dead after he was struck by a vehicle during the morning commute in Calgary.

The collision happened just before 8:30 Friday in the southeast Erinwoods neighbourhood.

Stuart Brideaux, an Emergency Medical Services spokesman, says the victim — a man in his late teens or early 20s — died at the scene.

His name has not been released.

Police say the driver remained at the scene.

There was no immediate word on whether charges would be laid.
