The body of a 90-year-old man who drove his SUV through a barrier at a BC Ferry terminal has been recovered from the water.
Ferry service was suspended between Mill Bay and Brentwood Bay after the incident on Friday morning.
The vehicle sped through the closed gate at the Mill Bay terminal around 8 a.m., travelled down a trestle, and then launched itself off the ramp into the ocean, said a BC Ferries news release.
The MV Klitsa had already left the terminal about five minutes earlier and was already more than two kilometres in the inlet at the time.
Divers pulled the white SUV and its driver from the water later in the day. The senior was the only person in the vehicle, said RCMP, who continue to investigate what happened.
