Mounties being investigated in police-involved shooting in Burnaby, B.C.

BURNABY, B.C. — British Columbia's police watchdog has deployed a team of investigators to the scene of a fatal RCMP-involved shooting in Burnaby, B.C.

The Independent Investigations Office says in an online statement that updates about the death will be provided when information is available.

Witnesses report hearing a woman screaming before up to 20 gunshots were fired at about 7 a.m., near Boundary and Hastings Streets.

They say two tenants of a home were taken away in a police cruiser and that one of them was a woman with a baby.

At least two dozen police cars are at the scene in the residential neighbourhood. (CKNW, News1130)
