PK Subban's Don Cherry Impression Will Make Your Day Brighter

Nailed it.

Cardinal TV rule: if you’re going to attempt a Don Cherry impression — you better pack a sharp suit.

That’s exactly what PK Subban did sitting at the Sportsnet NHL desk with host George Stroumboulopoulos during a promo shoot on Sept. 11.

Wearing a bright floral sunburst suit, the Canadiens defenceman tapped into his inner Grapes and released an impression that nails the legendary hockey commentator’s distinctively loud cadence and fondness for “back in the day” comparisons.

“PK, he’s a good player — I mean, he’s no Bobby Orr — he’s a good player,” the Toronto-born NHL star said as Stroumboulopoulos sunk away and back into his chair. The playful outtake triggered a big rip of laughter inside the studio, too.

Subban, a man obviously gifted with athletic and comedic talents, also recently stepped up his role as a philanthropist to give back to a city he calls his “second home.”

Just last week, Subban and his foundation made a $10-million commitment to the Montreal Children’s Hospital.

An atrium at the centre of the hospital’s new facilities was named in his honour.
