Facebook Launches 360-Degree Video Support For News Feed

Now you can experience content on a whole new level.

Roll up your sleeves and get ready for some phone tilting, mouse clicking immersive content. Facebook is bringing the future to your News Feed with 360-degree videos.

The company announced Wednesday that its platform for web and Android users will now support the videos that allow users to view a scene from any angle.

Videos are created using a special set of cameras that capture the scene from every angle at the same time.

"In the future, imagine watching 360 videos of a friend’s vacation to a small village in France or a festival in Brazil — you’ll be able to look around and experience it as if you were there," Facebook said in its announcement.

Many publishers shared new content today, including Star Wars, Discovery, GoPro, LeBron James & Uninterrupted, NBC’s Saturday Night Live, and VICE.

The posts range from speeding along an alien planet..

Of course, if you want to share an immersive experience of you at a family barbecue or going out for a walk you'll need a somewhat expensive 360 camera. Cameras like the V.360 and Bublcam start at $450.

Support for users on the iOS platform will come in the following months, Facebook said.
