Kirsten Mundell's father Kent was killed in the line of duty almost six years ago.
So when she got married last week, other officers stepped in for her dad on the big day. And there "wasn't a dry eye in the room."
Mundell, a deputy with the Pierce Country Sheriff's office, was shot after attending a domestic violence call in 2009, KOMO News reported.
He couldn't be at the wedding in person, but Kirsten made sure he had a presence there nonetheless.
She set aside a chair for him in the front row at her ceremony in Bonney Lake, Wash.; the chair was adorned with his picture and a jacket.
The back of her wedding dress was tied together with a blue string, symbolizing the "thin blue line" that police use to honour fallen officers.
Don Jones, a detective with the Seattle Police Department, walked her down the aisle and was her partner for the first dance.
Then another officer cut in. Then another. And another.
Mundell told Q13 Fox that the gesture meant "the world" to her.
"I know they'll always be there for me, no matter what," she said of the officers. "I can text, call, Facebook any of them, and I know they'll be there to do whatever I need.
"They're family, they really are, and they've shown that to me many times over the past almost six years."
The touching photos from the wedding were taken by Angela Lyons Photography.
They have drawn over 6,500 views since being posted to her Facebook on Saturday.
