No matter how much you love to eat salad, this video will make you think twice before reaching for a bowl full of greens.
In the video below, Nick Bilton, a columnist and reporter for the New York Times based in Los Angeles, shares a close-up of the salad he ate for dinner last night. Kale, pomegranate, lettuce and, yup, something slimy crawling up the side of his fork.
"Made a kale salad for dinner and towards the end of the meal I looked down and saw some lettuce moving on my plate. 'Hmm, that's strange,' I thought to myself. 'Lettuce doesn't move.'" Nick wrote in the video caption.
That's right Nick, lettuce doesn't move. Though we can't confirm what was moving in Nick's salad, it resembles an aphid.
This isn't the first time bugs have been found in organic salad greens. Earlier this year the poisonous Iron Blister Beetle popped up in salad greens across Canada and the United States.
To reduce your chances of eating a salad infested with insects, be sure to give your greens a good wash before eating.
