Cathriona White, Jim Carrey’s former girlfriend, was found dead of an apparent suicide in her Los Angeles home on Monday.
The Canadian actor confirmed White’s death in a statement to a Fox News affiliate station Tuesday.
"I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona," he said.
"She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."
Also known as Cat White, the 30-year-old Irish native met Carrey in 2012. The pair have been on-and-off since and reportedly rekindled their romance in May.
