The death of Canadian tenor Michael Burgess this week at the age of 70 saw an outpouring of condolences from across the country. The singer, who died from cancer, starred as Jean Valjean in the Canadian production of "Les Miserables," and was beloved throughout the country for his deep tones and grand performances.
And as the Toronto Blue Jays have secured a spot in the AL East playoffs for the first time since 1993, it seems only appropriate someone would dig up this great old video of Burgess singing "O Canada" for Game 1 of the Jays vs. the Atlanta Braves in a '92 World Series they eventually won.
Not only does it give us a chance to admire the heroes of '92, like Carter, Alomar and Winfield, but also Burgess' inimitable voice. The magic starts at 14:55 in the video above.
