After living through a brutal attack with battery acid, Fergus the dog is heading towards full recovery and now, helping others like him.
According to the video above by KTLA 5 News, the golden retriever (whowas later named Fergus for his strength) was found wandering the streets of Lancaster country in California back in August. The one-year-old dog was found with third-degree burns and taken to an animal shelter.
"He had a huge seizure, I think at this point his body just shut down," says Barbara Gale of the Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue (SCGRR).
But these days, Fergus is living a different life. According to NBC Los Angeles, Fergus was recently adopted by a family that plans to train Fergus to become a therapy dog for burn victims. Gale has also put together a fundraiser for SCGRR on Oct. 10 (which currently has raised over $27K), where Fergus will officially be adopted into his new home.
His attacker, however, has not been caught yet.
