Toronto manager John Gibbons expects even matchup in playoff series with Rangers

TORONTO — The bookies may see the Blue Jays as favourites. But Toronto manager John Gibbons believes the American League Division Series against the Texas Rangers could be an even affair.

For Gibbons, the two teams are similar.

Good balanced offences with team speed.

Both swing big bats and tore up the second half of the season. And they both went out and made big pitching acquisitions with Toronto trading for David Price and Texas picking up Cole Hamels. They also looked to bolster their bullpens.

Gibbons calls it an "even matchup."

Game 1 goes Thursday with Price starting against Rangers right-hander Yovani Gallardo.
