TORONTO — The Canadian dollar and North American stock markets were near break-even early Thursday.
The loonie was up 0.01 of a cent at 76.55 cents US.
The S&P/TSX composite index in Toronto was up 0.92 at 13,869.27 points. The index gained 221.09 points on Wednessday.
The Dow Jones average of 30 staks was down 3.84 points at 16,908.45, the broader S&P 500 index slipped 2.21 points to 1,993.62 and the Nasdaq index lost 16.57 points to 4,774.58.
On the commodity markets, the December gold contract fell $4.20 to US$1,144.50 an ounce, the November crude contract was up 50 cents at US$48.31 a barrel and the November contract for natural gas was up two cents at US$2.49.
