We're not sure how he reached this conclusion.
But a Toronto Blue Jays fan reportedly asked to be arrested on Wednesday morning, mistakenly believing he could watch the elimination game against the Texas Rangers while in police custody.
The Toronto police tweeted as follows:
Officers later arrived on the scene but could not find the person who made the call.
But even if they had found the reported Jays fan, he might have been sorely disappointed. Neither police holding cells nor courts have televisions that would have broadcast the game, Const. Jenniferjit Sidhu told CBC News. She wasn't sure about detention centres.
Besides, had the man actually been arrested, police would have processed and taken him to court, and he likely would have missed the whole game once he ended up in detention.
The Toronto police's tweet had generated almost 1,800 re-tweets as of Wednesday afternoon.
And social media users had plenty of fun with it, even offering some alternatives to watching the game from behind a holding cell.
