CP NewsAlert: Estrada, Jays force Game 6 in ALCS with 7-1 win over Royals

TORONTO — Marco Estrada has saved the Toronto Blue Jays from elimination for the second time this post-season.

The Jays right-hander pitched a gem as Toronto beat Kansas City 7-1 to force Game 6 in the American League Championship Series.

Estrada gave up just three hits and a walk in 7 2/3 innings to send the series back to Kansas City.

Troy Tulowitzki's three-run double in the sixth inning broke a close game wide open.

Estrada once again showed that he could thrive in a do-or-die situation. His brilliant outing in Game 3 of the ALDS against Texas ignited the Jays' comeback from a 2-0 deficit.

The Jays were in desperate need of a long outing from Estrada in order to rest their beleaguered bullpen, which was depleted in Tuesday's humiliating 14-2 loss that gave the Royals a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

More coming.
