Foods For Flu: 12 Ways To Prevent Getting Sick This Season

And the common cold!

If there was a sure-fire way to prevent ourselves from ever getting a cold and/or the flu this season, we would all be all over it.

Last year about 7,500 people were hospitalized for influenza and many more had the flu or had the common cold. And it’s estimated that sick days — many of which come during the winter cold-and-flu season — cost the Canadian economy $16.6 billion every year.

But while we know there are proven ways to cut our chances of getting sick, like getting the flu shot and washing our hands frequently, we haven’t yet found a silver bullet. Fortunately, there are things you can do every day to make sure you’re as healthy as possible, which can help prevent illnesses in the long run.
