Saskatchewan Road-Paving Accident Kills Construction Worker

FORT QU'APPELLE, Sask. — A worker has been killed in a highway construction accident in southern Saskatchewan.

RCMP say a man was operating a paving compactor late Wednesday afternoon on Highway 56, west of Fort Qu'Appelle, when the machine left the road.

The 49-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name and the company he worked for have not been released.

Details of what may have caused the accident are not immediately available.

Occupational Health and Safety is working with police on the investigation.
