Funeral held for three Alberta sisters buried in truckload of canola

RED DEER, Alta. — Three Alberta sisters who were buried in a truckload of canola are being remembered as kind, crafty and hard-working children who died too early.

A funeral is being held in Red Deer for Catie ott, was 13, and 11-year-old twins Dara and Jana.

RCMP said last week that the girls suffocated in the canola on their family's farm near the village of Withrow.

Neighbouring farmers helped the family finish their harvest the next day.

Their girls' parents, Roger and Bonita Bott, have said they are leaning on their Christian faith to get them through the deaths of their daughters.

Pastor Brian Allan told the service it's difficult to understand why the three beautiful girls were taken.
