Here's The Skinny On Why These Jeans Should Die

Thankfully, there are signs that these jeans are going out of style.

Mashable is making a great case for why super skinny jeans should have died yesterday.

In the second episode of its "David Says It's Dead" fashion series, host David Yi takes on super skinny jeans, a fad that started in 2008 and peaked in 2013 (and should have died there).

The jeans look like leggings or yoga pants β€” and seem extremely uncomfortable to wear, despite their popularity.

In the video, Yi puts three men wearing super skinny jeans through a boot camp on a running track before one of them, Taylor, collapses from the pain the pants create in his crotch area.

Yi then takes him shopping at Brooklyn Denim Co., where lo and behold, Taylor finds plenty of jeans that fit him better than the super skinny style.

In addition to looking horrible, skinny jeans have been known to cause health problems.

Earlier this year, an Australian woman was sent to hospital when a pair of super skinny jeans left her legs swollen after she helped a friend move, said a report in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry that was quoted by NPR.

Her calves sustained muscle damage and some nerves weren't working properly.

Thankfully, there are signs that these jeans are going out of style.

BuzzFeed reported in July that retailers such as Gap, Forever 21 and Abercrombie and Fitch are starting to pitch looser-fitting pants that don't look like they're suffocating a person's legs.

Because that can't be a good thing, can it?
