HIGH RIVER, Alta. — Alberta is moving forward with added flood protection for one of the communities hit hardest by the 2013 floods.
Environment Minister Shannon Phillips says new funding will allow work on two berms and a bridge to help shelter High River from future flooding on the Highwood River.
The projects reflect a commitment of about $30 million in multi-year funding for flood infrastructure.
The money comes on top of previous commitments of more than $100 million.
The government is also making changes to the Disaster Recovery Program that it says will allow 80 per cent of outstanding cases to be resolved.
