November is bleak. Fall’s majesty has dimmed, Christmas won’t be here for weeks (so put the decorations away and relax, damn it), and we have nothing but rain and a falling mercury to look forward to. (And I love it.)
November is also quiet, understated, and forces us to become stronger, better, and less spoiled than we were -- weather-wise -- up until this point. Frankly, it’s as close to a fictional dystopian future as we’ve gotten so far (and hopefully ever), and not just because of movies like "The Hunger Games" which, set in the future, have come to rely on its ready-and-willing-to-cocoon-at-the-movies audiences. Nope: November is just the middle-ground between autumn over-enthusiasm and eventual Christmas cheer, which is probably why we’ve finally come to embrace the dystopian aesthetic this season.
Not sure what I mean? Gather ‘round, friends, for it’s my time to shine. Here, six pieces that will help you rock the dystopian trend like a pro.
