Superwoman, Lilly Singh, Shares Her Story On MAKERS

"I know what it feels like not to laugh; I want to make people laugh."

Her fans know her as Superwoman.

Toronto-born Lilly Singh, 27, is a vlogger, comedian, rapper, actress, motivational speaker and a YouTube sensation. Her channel IISuperwomanII has more than seven million subscribers and more than one billion video views.

Her popular videos feature comedy sketches and blogs that are often inspired by her Indian heritage, and touch on everything from relationships to family life and self-empowerment.

But while Singh has made a career out of making others laugh, she also knows what it's like to struggle. In 2010, during her final year at university, Singh had depression.

"I literally felt like I was going through the motions of the day, not actually living," she explains in her interview with MAKERS.

That's when Singh discovered YouTube.

Watch the interview above to learn how creating videos that make people laugh (including herself) helped Singh climb out of her depression, and how she's inspiring her fans to do the same.
