OTTAWA — Canada's newly established government House leader says the Liberals intend to reconvene the House of Commons early next month.
Dominic LeBlanc says the plan is to bring the House back Dec. 3 to elect a new Speaker, with a speech from the throne on Dec. 4, a Friday.
LeBlanc says Parliament would likely sit for at least another week, allowing the Liberal government to introduce its long-promised tax cut for the middle class.
He says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wants to see those tax measures in place before the new year.
Trudeau, LeBlanc and 29 other members of the Liberal cabinet were sworn in earlier today at Rideau Hall.
Jody Wilson-Raybould, Canada's new justice minister and attorney general, called the group's first cabinet meeting fruitful and productive, but offered few other details.
