Socality Barbie, a.k.a. Hipster Barbie, Quits Instagram

The Instagram community has now gone into mourning.

If you're like us, you've endlessly scrolled through "hipster Barbie's" Instagram account in awe. She lived a beautifully authentic life full of Pacific Northwest adventures, coffee shop outings and we must say, the girl knew how to really rock a pair of 3D movie glasses.

But like all good things, the trendy Barbie's life in the spotlight has come to an end.

On Wednesday, Socality Barbie (socality referring to the online community with the same name) posted a photo that showed a whole new side to the incredibly popular parody account. Appearing next to the beanie-wearing brunette doll, creator Darcy Cisneros revealed her identity and introduced herself to her 1.3 million followers. First appearing in June, the account captivated the world with its hilarious captions and dozens of hashtags. But after 22 weeks, Cisneros of Portland, Oregon, has made the decision to quit.

"I started SB as a way to poke fun at all the Instagram trends that I thought were ridiculous," Cisneros writes. "Never in 1 million years did I think it would receive the amount of attention that it did but because of that it has open the door to a lot of great discussions like: how we choose to present ourselves online, the insane lengths many of us go to to create the perfect Instagram life, and calling into question our authenticity and motives. It's been a blast running this account but I believe SB's work here is done."

Socality Barbie's decision to leave social media behind comes days after 18-year-old Instagram star Essena O'Neill made a decision to quit the 'gram after declaring how "social media is not real life." This has us asking, is O'Neill's "Let's Be Game Changers" movement really kicking into effect, even though her friends claim the whole thing is a hoax?

Whatever the case may be, we'll miss you, Socality Barbie.
