20 Calorie-Saving Food Swaps

Chocolate is definitely still allowed.

Just because you're counting calories doesn't mean you have to eat salad all day, every day.

In the infographic below by Get Slimmer Guide, we look at 20 simple food swaps you can make to save calories when you're trying to eat a little healthier (or say, you started your day with a doughnut and are trying to make up for it).

And some of these swaps are still a little indulgent. Instead of starting the morning with a starchy bagel, switch it up by having a English muffin. Instead of tuna in oil, look for a tin of tuna in water. You can cut calories during dessert by grabbing a scoop of sorbet instead of ice cream.

When it comes to losing weight, experts at Health.com say cutting as much as 500 calories a day can help you drop a pound a week. To start reducing your calorie intake, look at the chart below for specific swaps, then follow the three steps to success which will help you eat smarter.

Do you still like to indulge when watching your weight, or are you an all-or-nothing dieter? Let us know in the comments below.
