If you've noticed the sky is looking a little different as of late, you have this hole in the sun to blame.
But don't panic, this particular hole isn't a sign of dark days ahead. Instead, it's sending solar winds that are creating fantastic light shows across Canada.
The solar winds are coming towards the atmosphere at a much faster rate than normal and they're full of charged particles. It's those very particles that give the aurora borealis their luminescence.
Those who live in more rural and northern parts of Canada will have a better chance of seeing the effect and, according to CBC, reports are already coming in from avid northern lights enthusiasts.
"Some of the best I've ever seen," Yukoner Murray Lundberg told the broadcaster.
"I know the scientific explanation, of course, but it's all just magic to me. Every night is different, every five minutes is different."
