Uber is launching its popular ridesharing service beyond Montreal's city limits to the off-island communities of Laval and Longueuil.
The ride-hailing app announced the expansion on Thursday. Now it will serve close to 40 per cent of the Quebec population, it said.
The company is now also offering its services in Windsor and Kingston, Ont., as of today.
Taxi drivers have complained that it is unfair to force them to compete with Uber, which allows drivers to work with little overhead costs and to undercut traditional cab fares.
