Khloe Kardashian Contracts Staph Infection At Hospital: Reports

The star reportedly has a painful lesion on her leg and a high fever.

Khloe Kardashian has dealt with a lot since husband Lamar Odom was hospitalized, but now she reportedly has a health scare of her own.

The reality star contracted a serious staph infection at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A., where Odom is staying, according to TMZ.

She apparently has a painful lesion on her leg and a high fever.

A source also confirmed to People that the star was dealing with a staph infection, saying she contracted it from Odom's bedside but that stress exacerbated it.

"She's home on antibiotics and being closely monitored a doctor," the source said.

Kardashian alluded to an illness in tweets Wednesday, saying she was forced to reschedule a book signing.

The 31 year old is currently promoting her new book, "Strong Looks Better Naked."

Sister Kourtney told E! News Wednesday that Khloe was "not feeling well, but she's OK" after two sources told the site that she had an infection.

Staph infections are caused by staphylococcus bacteria, germs commonly found on the skin, according to the Mayo Clinic. Many people carry the bacteria without developing an infection, but those with weakened immune systems, skin damage or respiratory illnesses are more susceptible.

The bacteria can also live on objects like pillowcases or towels long enough to transfer to someone else, and can travel along medical tubing like catheters or feeding tubes.

Infections are usually not serious, but can turn life-threatening if the bacteria enter the bloodstream, bones, lung or heart.
