Black Friday's Little-Known Canadian Connection Dates Back To This Event

Here's the once-iconic Canadian retailer that inspired American event.

Black Friday may be one of the biggest shopping events for our neighbours south of the border, but even Canadians aren't immune to the temptation of bargains on clothing and electronics.

The unofficial holiday, which falls on the day after American Thanksgiving, involves massive sales and a shopping chaos synonymous with getting your hands on big-ticket items such as televisions on the cheap.

Both Best Buy and Walmart have released their deals on tech products just in time for the big day. Other retailers are also advertising a slew of discounted gadgets such as TVs, laptops, tablets and video game systems.
