Two men who were involved in the gruesome killing of a Vancouver teen have been found guilty of manslaughter.
Manraj Akalirai, 19, died after being beaten and nearly decapitated with a samurai sword on Elgin Street and East 47th Avenue in January 2013.
Amritpal Dhillon, 20, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder the next day. Amritpaul Rakhra, 18, was also arrested and charged with manslaughter, reported CBC News.
On Sunday, Dhillon was found guilty on a lesser charge of manslaughter for hitting Akalirai with the massive sword, according to The Province.
Rakhra was also found guilty of manslaughter, having used a golf club to attack the victim, said the outlet.
Akalirai's death was the city's first homicide of the year. Police suggested the killing was linked to the drug trade, but Akalirai's family denied he had any gang or drug affiliations.
