Man facing first-degree murder charge in Calgary barbershop shooting

CALGARY — A man has been charged in the shooting death of a customer in a Calgary barbershop.

Khalid El-Ajami, who was 31, was in Johnny Scissorhands on Nov. 14 when a man walked in and shot him after a short conversation.

Police say Redear Kadir-Shahwan faces a charge of first-degree murder.

Kadir-Shahwan, who is 22, also faces a charge of attempted murder in a shooting last January.

Police say two men walked out of a convenience store and were nearly hit by a passing vehicle.

After a brief verbal exchange, one of the pedestrians was shot.
