Cineplex Adds 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Screenings To Cope With Ticket Demand

You will release more "Star Wars" tickets for opening weekend.

It appears that "Star Wars" fans used a Jedi mind trick on Cineplex.

The entertainment company is releasing a new block of tickets and adding 50 per cent more screens so that people can enjoy "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" on opening weekend, said a Thursday news release.

Cineplex Entertainment president and CEO Ellis Jacob said there will be an "additional 160 showtimes of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' at 115 theatres across Canada."

The heavily-anticipated movie opens on Dec. 18, although there will be advance screenings on Dec. 17.

Cineplex expects that hundreds of thousands of Canadians will take in the new "Star Wars" film on opening weekend.

The company also predicts that "Star Wars fans" will consume 9 million ounces of soft drinks and 5 million cups of popcorn when the film hits theatres.

The announcement comes on the heels of a rip-roaring new trailer that is the most action-packed one yet.

One week and counting.
