Kim Kardashian Placenta: 'I feel a surge of energy and feel really healthy and good'

“I can't go wrong with taking a pill made of my own hormones -- made by me, for me.”

Placenta pills are all the rage, according to Kim Kardashian.

On Monday, the reality star revealed in a new blog post that she ate her placenta after giving birth to her second child, Saint West, earlier this month.

“And when I say ‘eat my placenta,’ I mean that I'm having it freeze-dried and made into a pill form -- not actually fry it like a steak and eat it (which some people do, BTW),” the 35-year-old mom clarified.

This isn’t the first time Kardashian has eaten her own placenta. Back in 2013, the star did the same thing after her first child, North West, was born in order to prevent postpartum depression.

On her app, Kardashian explained: “I heard so many stories when I was pregnant with North of moms who never ate their placenta with their first baby and then had postpartum depression, but then when they took the pills with their second baby, they did not suffer from depression! So I thought, why not try it? What do I have to lose?”

Raving about her second experience taking the pills, Kardashian wrote: “Every time I take a pill, I feel a surge of energy and feel really healthy and good. I totally recommend it for anyone considering it!”

The mom of two isn’t the only celebrity to advocate eating the placenta. In the past, stars such as January Jones, Alicia Silverstone and even Kardashian’s sister Kourtney have raved about its benefits. These include preventing postpartum depression, boosting energy and helping with lactation.

However, there is no proven research to support these claims, which is why the topic is highly debated. Despite this, doula Joni Lucarelli, who turned Kardashian’s placenta into pills, still supports it.

“The studies are inconclusive, but anecdotally, what we’re seeing is that women who are bringing their placenta back into their bodies this way are reporting that their milk supplies are better for the baby, their energy is higher, they don’t seem to be struggling with postpartum depression to the extent that women [who] are not doing this may be,” she explained to Page Six.

In the end, Kardashian made her decision to take placenta pills after reading about the experiences of other women who said “the overall healing process was so much easier.”

Plus, she said: “I can't go wrong with taking a pill made of my own hormones -- made by me, for me.”
