Italian oldtimers named for Toronto soccer game against Canadian all-stars

TORONTO — Salvatore (Toto) Schillaci, Dino Baggio, Ciro Ferrara, Simone Perrotta and Angelo Di Livio are among the Italian Football Heroes named for a March game in Toronto against a Canadian all-star side led by former national team skipper Paul Stalteri.

Organizers hope Alessandro Del Piero will join the Italian team for the March 5 game at Ricoh Coliseum.

Other Italian veterans slated to play are Angelo Peruzzi, Max Tonetto, Bernardo Corradi and Giuseppe Favalli.

Others on the Canadian team include Jim Brennan, Marco Reda, Joe Mattachionne, Robbie Aristodemo, Chris Pozniak, Jason Bent, Rick Titus and Ali Gerba.

The evening will be hosted by Italian singer Pupo, with some proceeds going to benefit the non-profit Toronto Azzurri Youth Sports Village.
