Maritimers woke up to their first major snow storm of the year Wednesday — and there’s more to come.
Thousands of homes in Nova Scotia lost power, with more than 12,000 Nova Scotia Power customers affected at one point. Most of the province, and New Brunswick, can expect between 15 and 25 more centimetres of snow with winds up to 100 km/h.

The snowfall shuttered schools, businesses, ferry service, and at one point, the TransCanada highway.
Some northeastern parts of Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island could get as much as 30 centimetres of snow throughout the day.
Environment Canada is warning people not to travel unless it's essential. Many parts of Atlantic Canada are under winter storm and snowfall warnings.
Another coastal low is expected to bring strong winds and a mix of precipitation back to the region Saturday night.
