"What is a girl to wear in the year 2000?" a sassy Oprah Winfrey asks.
Good question, O.
A 1994 clip from the "Oprah Winfrey Show" has resurfaced, and it can only be described in one word: hilarious. In the video above, the legendary talk show host asks the top fashion designers of the early '90s to predict what we would be sporting in the new millennium.
So what did the sartorial geniuses predict? Well, besides wearing dresses made out of parachute material and garments made out of straw ("We'll be wearing clothes made out of material we never even imagined!" proclaims Winfrey), here are a few designer predictions that never really came true:
Prediction: Glow-In-The-Dark-Coats
"It's a glow-in-the-dark coat that has pieces of glass in it to reflect light," Oprah says. "And even in the year 2000, Donna says, we're going to be wearing matching shoes."
That didn't happen, did it? Fail.
Prediction: Coats That Filter Air Impurities
We mean, it's the thought that counts.
Prediction: Dresses Made From Recyclable Rubber
"Pretty snappy," Oprah describes the acclaimed designer's prediction that would "preserve our planet."
Look, Oprah, these are some...interesting predictions. But they were totally wrong.
Let's take a real look at the fashion the year 2000 genuinely brought us:
