Jian Ghomeshi Trial Reporters Threatened Outside Toronto Courthouse

He reportedly threatened journalists outside a Toronto courthouse.

Toronto police arrested an armed man who allegedly threatened journalists outside a courthouse on Friday.

CBC News reports that media were waiting to enter the Old City Hall courthouse to cover the sexual assault trial of former radio host Jian Ghomeshi when the incident began around 7:30 a.m.

Police told CTV News that the 19-year-old man took a cordless electric saw without the blade out of a backpack and threatened the media with it.

Witnesses told media the man indicated he had a firearm but no gun was found.

CBC said a reporter tackled the suspect, who was held until police arrived.

It's unclear if the incident is linked to Ghomeshi's trial, which began this week. He has pleaded not guilty to four counts of sexual assault and one count of overcoming resistance by choking relating to three women.
