Moose Saved In West Kelowna Attacks Its Rescuer

A simple "thank you" noise would have sufficed, moose.

Marc Schoene found a two-year-old calf after it became tangled in the fence between his and his neighbours' properties on Friday, Global News reported.

The West Kelowna man grabbed a pair of wire cutters to cut the animal's back leg loose.

Once it was free, however, the animal took a couple shots at its rescuer.

"The moose looked at me after, but then kind of lunged toward me with its front hooves and started hitting me on my back and shoulders."

"He probably didn't know if it was me hurting it or the fence. It probably felt threatened and stressed."

Schoene posted a video of the encounter on YouTube Saturday. The clip doesn't catch the moose's kicks, but you can spot the moose chasing the man out of view. (Watch above.)

Eventually, the moose scampered off. Schoene suffered bumps and bruises, but said he didn't mind helping the animal, according to InfoTel.

"Why let something suffer if I can help it right now?" he told the outlet.
