A trip to the dentist isn't always much fun, but sometimes drugs can make it a little more bearable.
Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to have been the case for Medicine Hat, Alta. resident Bart Houben. He took Ativan for some routine cavity work, and the drugs took as long as 14 hours to wear off.
He fell off a couch at home and became convinced he was going to lose his head.
His girlfriend Nola Besplug caught his fearful experience in a video that was posted to YouTube on Friday.
The clip shows Houben sobbing into a pillow with a roll of tape at his side.
Besplug asks him why he has the tape.
"If my head falls off," he answers, sniffling.
"Noooo Bart, it's not gonna fall off, OK?" Besplug cajoles, but Houben remains unconvinced.
The video had over 1.7 million views as of Thursday afternoon.
But that wasn't the only clip that Besplug posted online.
Houben didn't remember 90 per cent of the YouTube video taking place, he told the Medicine Hat News.
“I go ‘that’s not me,’ and (Nola) says, ‘Bart, this is why I recorded it, because nobody believed that this would actually happen,'” he said.
One can't help but be reminded of the viral video classic "David After Dentist."
Hopefully Houben is feeling better now.
