Former Saskatchewan doctor charged with 6 sex assaults dating back to 2001

YORKTON, Sask. — A former Saskatchewan doctor has been charged with six counts of sex assault dating back to 2001.

Mohammed Haque, who is 71, was arrested at his home in London, Ont., earlier this month.

Yorkton RCMP say a woman alleged being sexually assaulted by Haque in 2001.

Since the start of the investigation, 12 women have alleged similar assaults that happened between 2001 and 2008.

They all told police they met Haque through his work as an obstetrician and gynecologist at a medical facility in Yorkton.

Haque gave up his medical licence in 2012 following allegations to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan of sexual misconduct with female patients.

Haque is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Yorkton on Monday.
