Power goes out when CP freight train derails in Calgary neighbourhood

CALGARY — More than a dozen cars in Canadian Pacific Railway (TSX:CP) freight train have derailed in southeast Calgary.

CP says the accident happened around 6:20 a.m. Thursday in the city's Inglewood area.

It says early reports suggest 15 cars left the tracks.

Emergency responders and company officials were at the scene, but there was no immediate word on whether any cargo spilled.

Media reports say there were no injuries.

Power was also knocked out to about 280 customers of the utility company Enmax when the derailment happened. (The Canadian Press, CHQR, CFFR)
