Andreja Pejic Lands The Cover Of Marie Claire Spain, First Since Her Transition

"This marks my first cover in this somewhat new life and I couldn't be happier!"

Andreja Pejic has landed her first major magazine cover as a woman.

The 24-year-old Australian model, who publically underwent sexual reassignment surgery in 2014, is featured on the front of Marie Claire Spain's March issue, her first cover since her transition.

Photographed by Pablo Zamora, Pejic, who made her runway debut as a woman a year ago, is seen on the cover wearing a spunky purple Versace frock with green embellished details, looking gorgeous with highlighted cheekbones, a subtle orange lip and tousled hair. According to Cosmopolitan, the headline reads: "Romper El Tabú," or "Breaking the Taboo."

"Thank you @marieclaire_es for having me on your cover this month!" the beauty, who was the first transgender model to land a spread in Vogue, writes on Instagram. "This marks my first cover in this somewhat new life and I couldn't be happier!"

Andreja, who ruled the catwalk as an androgynous model before the transition, has done plenty of modelling since her surgery, including inking a deal with Make Up For Ever and becoming the first openly transgender model to sign a contract with a cosmetics company.

What a milestone. Major congrats to Andreja!
