WHL Roundup: Chad Butcher overtime hero in Tigers' 3-2 win against Hitmen

CALGARY — Chad Butcher had the overtime winner as the Medicine Hat Tigers slipped past the Calgary Hitmen 3-2 on Sunday in Western Hockey League action.

Ty Stanton and Alex Mowbray scored in regulation time for Medicine Hat (22-34-4). Mowbray's goal was a short-handed goal 8:34 into the third period. Mack Shields made 39 saves for the win.

Jordy Stallard and Travis Sanheim gave Calgary (34-22-4) a 2-1 lead by the second intermission. Kyle Dumba stopped 21 shots for the Hitmen.

The Tigers scored on one of their two power plays, while Calgary couldn't score on its four man advantages.

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Dryden Hunt had a hat trick as the Warriors bounced Swift Current.

Noah Gregor and Nikita Popugaev rounded out the attack for Moose Jaw (31-22-8).

Scott Feser responded for the Broncos (21-31-7).

EVERETT, Wash. — Patrick Bajkov struck twice as the Silvertips topped Spokane.

Carson Stadnyk and Yan Khomenko also scored for Everett (35-20-4).

Hudson Elynuik was the lone scorer for the Chiefs (28-23-8).

VANCOUVER — Trevor Cox scored in regulation and the shootout as the Giants edged Kamloops.

Chase Lang and Radovan Bondra both scored in the second period for Vancouver (23-31-7).

Jiri Smejkal, Nick Chyzowski and Gage Quinney all scored as the Blazers (27-24-9) rallied to force overtime.

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. — Jordan Tkatch and Parker Kelly had third-period goals as the Raiders rallied past Brandon.

Jesse Lees opened scoring for Prince Albert (32-20-8).

Nolan Patrick and John Quenneville built a 2-1 lead for the Wheat Kings (37-18-4).
