Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (13,123.65, up 105.72 points):

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Up two cents, or 0.30 per cent, to $6.64 on 21.4 million shares.

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Up 50 cents, or 12.79 per cent, to $4.41 on 18.1 million shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up 23 cents, or 5.91 per cent, to $4.12 on 13.8 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up 12 cents, or 8.28 per cent, to $1.57 on 11.8 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Up 11 cents, or 9.91 per cent, to $1.22 on 11.6 million shares.

Pengrowth Energy Corp. (TSX:PGF). Oil and gas. Down four cents, or 3.39 per cent, to $1.14 on 9.7 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (TSX:CNQ). Oil and gas. Up $2.68, or 8.88 per cent, to $32.85 on 7.4 million shares. The Calgary-based company is committing $2 billion of this year's capital budget to advancing its Horizon project and then expects funding requirements for the oilsands operation to drop in 2017 and thereafter. The full 2016 capital budget, including spending on Horizon Phases 2B and 3, has been set at between $3.5 billion and $3.9 billion. 

Calfrac Well Services Ltd. (TSX:CFW). Up eight cents, or 6.50 per cent, to $1.31 on 1.2 million shares. The company has cut another 500 jobs as gloom continues to linger over the oil and gas sector. The Calgary-based oilfield services firm says it now has 2,300 fewer workers in North America than it did at the start of 2015.
