Toronto Zoo Reveals Panda Names Jia Panpan And Jia Yeuyeu

So cute!

Say hello to Jia Panpan and Jia Yeuyeu!

After holding a naming contest in February, the zoo's newly named panda bear cubs made their public debut at an exclusive event on Monday. Guests included Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Ontario Premiere Kathleen Wynne and Toronto Mayor John Tory.

After a series of speeches, it was revealed that Canada had chosen to name the cubs Jia Panpan and Jia Yeuyeu which translates to "Canadian Hope" for the male cub and "Canadian Joy" for the female.

Tory even got up close and personal with the cubs before the official naming ceremony.

As did Prime Minister Trudeau, who confessed his children would be very jealous to learn that he got to hold the cubs.

Meanwhile, Premier Wynne looked very cozy with the cubs on a Muskoka chair.

The cubs, which were the first-ever to be born in Canada, arrived on October 13, 2015 to parents Er Shun and Da Mao at the Toronto Zoo.

The male and female cubs will be on public display beginning Saturday, March 12, but zoo members will have access to the cubs starting March 8.
